Harman XXV

another here who has pulled out the weldment due to that hole for repair,on my invincible T two years sgo. My welder tig'd it beautifully for forty bucks, and running great.

I'm convinced mine opened there due to the fire chronicslly burning down to the auger, auger grinding carbon against the tube for eighteen years, and thinning the metal, because thinned metal was adjacent to the hole.

Welder said the metal was well suited to filling because it was quality steel and absent of corrosion.

Upon reassembly, made great care to eliminate all paths for leaking air to the hopper. Since, the fire begins just below the burn pot air holes, and the auger tube just sees warming ,nonabrasive, raw pellets, and should last a very long time still.

Mine did the same thing, it was under warranty but the dealer was no longer Harman authorized to sell or service the stoves. Ended up costing me a little over $500 with Harman covering it under warranty. I had to have another shop do the repair since there were no Harman dealers close to me.

They won't know until they get it torn apart. Big job either way and certainly nothing I am capable of doing. I am really torn about what to do: on the one hand, the XXV is more stove than we need, but I can have it repaired for about less than half the cost of a smaller unit, e.g. P43 or Piazzetta. A couple of places around here are running sales. On the other hand, it would be nice to have a quieter and perhaps more efficient stove.

I am thankful there hasn't been much of a winter in the Mitten so far this year!

be sure, with a Piazzetta you will be very satisfied. It's been now 5 years that we carry them and it's the best stove we ever had till now.
