Yes, the bright side. Definitely saving wood and no other funds to electric and gas companies needed so far either. If the rubber band snaps, it might get ugly.
I can't see getting all the way to spring without a good freeze,but might get lucky?only problem i have right now is my dry wood is actually starting to get damp from all the humidity in the air.

Wet coast indeed. We are now at the second rainiest Dec. on record with a bit more than a week to break through to the top. Good news is that there's plenty of snow in the mountains. Skiers are smiling.

Thanks begreen,finally found that sweet spot a hair to much and you shut it down.ski hills here are in deep trouble this year christmas is their busy time no snow at all.

Are you about the Dovre, or the Roby with the gigantic firebox, secondary tubes and 6" chimney?
Really , you're the only regular here with that crazy big stove and I've yet to see any details. Unless I've missed something
Hey jeff , the roby .didn't think anybody would be interested very private club maybe four people max i've seen with one but it is a good stove ,6" does not hamper draft at all .hey lopi 6" works just fine save the people some money lol .i'll make a review of it see if anybody reads it.
Some stove companies include the area above the baffle in their firebox volume. Not really helpful info. It's similar to burn times that are from match light to the last ember dying.
The warm weather has had some pros and cons for me. I really haven't had to burn wood to heat the house yet except for a couple of occurrences and have been using my minisplit instead The cons have been a lot of cloudy weather so my solar hot water system is not keeping up. I normally switch over to my wood boiler for hot water but since I am not using it, I don't have hot water unless I run the oil boiler to charge up my hot water maker. Looks like the 10 day forecast call for more normal weather next week so I should be set.
The firebox is listed as 15.5" tall. That is very tall. Is that to the bottom of the tubes or to the top of the firebox above the baffle? Hard to tell, their website is very messed up right now.

I measure 13" to seconderies,figure 12" height and can fit 20" splits inside.from fire brick to fire brick is 20" wide.
If you fiddle &fart with placement of logs you can fit quite a bit in .between the baffle support you can pile 3 nice splits e/w the rest n/s and near door two more east west.ì find the stoves really lose alot of space up top .18"splits. You can fit 24" logs in except for two on each side those would be 20" but figured real world cutting keep it at 20"
24" is a big difference, that probably adds quite a bit then. It's keeping you warm and cozy, that's the best part.

We're heading up to Quebec city tomorrow for a couple days. I hear it's gonna get colder with snow. Hopefully we can drive through the snow flakes.
