If you go to the other site there seems to be a bit of animosity towards the moderation on this site.

Me? I'm new here. Only gotten slapped once. Or not.

.

I'll take my ball and go home?

Not a week goes by that I don't wonder about somebody that has come here, stayed awhile and moved on. Such is life in forums, well, and in life in general.

True, but I have to keep resetting my password to log in which is a bit annoying. Not sure if it's me or the website.

First I have heard of that.

Truth be known after a while most of the questions seem to be repeats. A lot of the companies have been bought by larger companies and not a lot of new ideas without spending huge amounts of money. With oil prices-nat gas,and LP down the demand has dropped and other then a hobby there isn't much savings to be had unless you have to rely on electric heat as your only heat source or if you burn corn.

Some out east are still getting stuck with high fuel costs and our friends to the North are still paying some very high heating fuel costs.
NH at over $2 for propain. I have 2 plus weeks of corn left so playing the market and hope to get in a box full middle of January and propane tank at 45% so will need that if this winter gets in gear about the same time.
Ron, It looks like your about to get a pile of snow in a couple hours and its sliding North to mess with me. I'll probably pay for not getting the new tires put on.

We really didn't get that much except its a northeast wind and most yards like mine don't have very good wind breaks from that direction. But with 4X4 I can go any place I need. Seems we are on the edge of it as places 25 miles west or south got a lot more. Its 1PM and 34 so probably a good time to clean the yard anyway. I use a small 150 bu gravity wagon for corn that fits inside my attached car garage so I have it pretty nice for burning corn.

Yeah, spent $500 on 150 gals of propane in November. It would have been less if I'd locked in the $2.49/gallon they were pushing in July. However, I would have been required to pay them $119 for the privilege of that price (and no, that isn't a pre-payment, it is a flat out bribe to get a lower cost). If I still used propane to heat, even at the lock-in price I would still be doing better on the FSU's I get from HD.

Seems burning wood if practical would be your best choice.

It's been so warm here I have only fired the stove up a handful of times. It feels good to have it currently going, but in sure tomorrow morning it'll be like Hati in here and I'll have to shut down. As said above by unbidden, when the stove is off you frequent the forum less. Side note, I got an ash vacuum for Christmas and love it. So much smaller than the rigid shop vac.

I agree. Cheap oil, warm temps will have an effect on postings here. I also agree that after a while, most troubles have been talked about and most old timers just don't need help. For me, I have a stove that is not popular so we don't see many postings about them. Not to mention the spankings I've received for having such a crappy stove tends to make me sit on the sidelines more.
I've had no issues with the mods here :)
