Can anyone help me with searching for direct vent wood pellet boiler options. I am in the market for one as I don't want to install a new chimney. What companies have such boilers? thanks

I guess I don't understand why pellet stoves get run out the side of a house with a simple double pipe , but the pellet boiers need a expensive chimney. Any help??

Might be better off asking in the Boiler Room...

EDIT: Guessing though that boilers have more heat output than stoves therefore bigger venting requirements?

Good question. I googled direct vent boilers because I was curious also. I chose our Windhager based on Heaterman's recommendation and experience. He's in the industry and traveled to Europe to evaluate the technology and products. Hopefully he'll chime in for you. But for our XL it's designed to have some flue draft. The flue temps are low, but it wants draft. Also, at least for our XL the only time you see faint smoke is when the electric element is heating the burner pot to ignite the pellets. Maybe it has to do with capacity. Regardless, I would go with the most proven unit and manufacturer then worry how it was vented. I'll be watching for what the experts say. But I can give you two thumbs up on Windhager.

I have been heating with Quadrafire pellets stoves for years. They have given me great service. But I have a elaborate in floor radiant system that begs to be used. It runs off a small munchin propane boiler though at a cost of twice that of pellets.

My Harman PB105 is direct vent, but they apparently don't make them any more.
Solagen made our industrial burner and I believe they make commercial systems. I'm not sure if they make them small enough for a home.

There's a few European made boilers available: Okofen, NBE (known as Kedel in the northeast), and some of those listed above.

I think the exhaust piping would be offset by the underground piping, most likely.

Then there's the heat loss from having the unit outside.

They must work for some though, or else they wouldn't be selling them. Likely does corn pretty good?
