My propane company just sent me a bill for $180 low usage fee. Funny, they only filled my tank to 8O% figuring they would whack me. If they had filled the whole tank, I would have met the criteria . Surely not paying the fee. I even took a pic of the gauge after they came. Osterman Propane at their best. If you google this comp. they have a one star rating with a plethora of complaints. They own the tank but soon I think I'm gonna buy out the contract.

Osterman are the crooks porking me as well. Probably switching to Eastern.

Why is that?
It's a gas under pressure, there has to be room in the tank for expansion or the safety valve will blow off. Which is better than the alternative LOL !

Just following up on this in case anyone is looking for a new Propane supplier. Osterman was charging me $4.99 a gallon and whacking me with a minimum usage fee. (And, yes, I know many suppliers base pricing on a sliding scale based on usage). I just took on Haffner's as a supplier for $1.89 per gallon. I call Osterman's today to have them come pick up their tank and they tell me "Oh, we do that in the Spring". I believe I will be making a delivery of my own this weekend....

How big is your tank? Check your state laws to see how much propane you can legally transport in that tank. That is where they get you a lot of time, they have to pump out most of the propane to transport the tank, so charge you out the whazoo for that - at least around here.

So, you are going to have Haffner come out and make a delivery? Wouldnt you be going against contract and will Haffner actually deliver your propane?

Most people on Plum island are switching away from Eastern.. no low usage fee charge that I know of, but $4+ / gallon is common (Townsend seems to be the vendor of choice these days)

Haffner's installed their own tanks after moving Osterman's out of the way and will be filling them tomorrow. The Osterman tank was below 5% full and is a smallish tank(under 100), so it isn't too heavy at all. So, I may toss it in my Dodge and bring it to them if they intend to leave it here until Spring. First off though they will be getting a letter by certified mail stating that I am charging them a weekly storage fee for as long as it sits in my yard.

Wife just called and Osterman's took the old tank away. Spring has arrived!

home depot finally blinked in my area too! 199.00.

Now the main question here - do you all think they will blink again or should I jump on this? They arent the best pellets but my stove does burn them without issues.
