Hearthstone Heritage burn times

Does anyone know how I can increase my burn time with this stove? I do not have a chimney damper. Currently I am burning red elm as that is the best wood that I have. Should I only cut oak from now on? (For next year) I can get flames for about two to three hours and coals for about 5 to 7 hours if I mix some oak and maple with the elm. Does this sound about right? My wife and I really like our stove. I just want to get more out of it. Our dealer is not much help. They did A great job with the install, but now they just want to deal with pellet stoves. Any heritage owners out there who can offer your knowledge? Thanks

Thanks, how do you like your woodstock stoves? The wood is two years old. I cut a year ahead before getting my stove. I am not complaining, just want to learn more. Hearthstone makes a beautiful stove. We looked at woodstock, but I had to have the stove installed by a dealer for insurance requirements.

I am not getting 10 hours total. Maybe 6 or 7 hors total. I have to get up in the night to use the bathroom anyway so I usually fill the stove then. Can you please tell me how you got the stove to burn for so long? Any tips would be really appreciated.

Wood cut/stacked and covered for two years should be fine. A damper is only needed if the flue is too tall.

Wouldn't the insurance company have accepted installation by a certified chimney sweep and an inspection by your Town? I hate the idea of being locked into a specific dealer for a product.

I am new at stoves and burning. At the time, I thought I was making the right decision. I am in outdoor boiler country so a chimney sweep is hard to find. There are a couple in the area but they only clean fireplaces and stoves. I wonder if a hvac service would install a woodstock. I don't like the idea of the dealers either now. At the time, I thought I could ask them for support but I am am basically on my own. I have learned a lot from the folks on here. Everyone who has responded to my questions has been just awesome.
