Not sure what happened.... stove was on, but pellets weren't dropping. I opened hopper and scooped pellets towards down from sides in the hopper, but pellets still not dropping to the burnpot. Number 4 is flashing. Any help is appreciated.

Not sure what stove you have, but on my M55 a flashing #4 is either the hopper lid switch or the high temp limit switch

If you tell us what kind of stove it is, you would get more helpful answers. I assume a St. Croix flashes different from other stoves such as Bill's Enviro.

We have a enviro m55 and we had to switch to easyblaze pellets bcuz thats all they had. I just noticed on tbe review that they produce a lot od sawdust and one guy had to clean his augur every other day.

If you left the hopper open, or partially open, it should restart. If not, it is probably the high temp switch. You have to reset the switch by accessing it through a round "plug" cap in the right side of the hopper wall, under the control panel

The book said to restart but didn't know how. Ok. Going to try it now. Should some pellets be in there for this? We took them all out because we thought something was clogged.

I'm sorry if mu question sounded stupid, lol, but, wasn't sure if resetting button w/out pellets would start the stove automatically... and then something else go wrong. Anyways, I just went ahead and scooped the rest out and see no button. Thx for you patience, unfortunately, you are dealing with Ann right now. Lol
There is no button in the hopper. See

Went on youtube, took off another section and found button. It seems to not push in so I'm just going to try calling the store where purchased once they open. Unfortunately, they're a couple of hours away so they won't come out which is why we joined this group, but maybe they can talk me through it. Maybe the stove has to be on while you are resetting it, not sure & dont want to take that chance. Thank you everyone for trying to help me.

Hi guys...I have the same stove!

First as Bill L said, you have to make sure the top hopper lid closes properly...if you think it's closed but it's not slid 100% back, then you will get that flashing light. Even on pellet just sitting on the top back edge can keep the top piece from closing all the way!!!
As far as the reset button, if you remove the circular piece, inside is a tiny red reset button....facing frontwards....you can't see it but with skinny fingers or the handle of a skinny kitchen wooden spoon you should be able to reset it....it will only move a fraction.

This is your high temp reset button....which leads to a question/problem that most of this boards M55 owners are familiar with.....So, how old is this stove and have you ever had the Convection fan replaced?
Bill S
Sorry the pic of the reset button is blurry, also I see you don't have the insert/sliding to so disregard that info...I am guessing your reset button is in the same place though..

Convection fan never replaced. Just bought stove in August, just installed in October. The stove shoppe just told us to unscrew the cover to the augur and to see if it is jammed. Omw to buy the tool.

Hi again...when you scooped out the last of the pellets and there was a lot of pellet dust, like many cups, then it's possible to be jammed but highly unlikely. Do you know the date of the manufacture of the stove...it should be somewhere visible wit the top off? Check back later...Bill

Okay, same vintage as mine. To restart your stove (if you haven't already) you are going to have to push in the reset button so that on a restart, you do not have the flashing light. Because the augur is empty it will take a couple of minutes for the pellets to work their way up and then fall down into the burn pot.... You should take a small handful of pellets and pour them into the burn pot manually!
What I think is happening is that your pellets are producing enough heat that the high temp sensor (safety sensor) is tripping thus creating the flashing light and your problem. ( a search of "M55 high temp reset" will produce enough reading material to last you until spring....Here is the condensed version: You have a GREAT stove but the 2009 plus models had a flawed convection fan that could not properly disapate the heat....causing the overheat problem. I "believe" that Enviro/Sherwood industries/CA.......Canada:pHas replaced that fan with a newer fantastic fan for (most) owners. Most of us had gone through dozens of resets befor we were able to get our dealers to warranty the parts change. Your dealer should have known about this, and should have told you. It's possible that this is a used stove with the convection fan already replaced.......? But ask the dealer about it! I don't have the time this second but some other M55 owner can probably post a picture of the "old" fan and you can tell if that's what you have. I think this is your problem and I think you may still be able to get the new fan under warranty.
Bill

It was "new"... But came pretty beat up on one side of the casing. Anyways, thank you. I don't think this dealer even understands... Apparently, this was a closeout stove. I had to threaten him to even uphold his promise to replace parts. The casing, in particular. I will mention it to them, tho

This was the issue. There was a ton of sawdust from these new pellets that we got wrapped with plastic around the augur. Wow... So I decided to mix the new pellets (easy blaze) with one of my other bags of (Okanagan gold) and just remembered that they cause the edges of the glass to turn very sooty within minutes. At least the stove is workjng though. Yay! Thank you, guys!

This dealer may or may not know of the Enviro M55 bad convection blower....he should, and he should work with you! If he gives you any grief, I would call Sherwood Industries direct...in Canada 250-652-6080. They will direct you to , I believe the two authorized parts dealers in MA....who will probably direct you to the dealer that you bought the stove from...In any event, between Sherwood and the two distributerships, they should put pressure on this dealer to come to some kind of agreement with you guys...In the mean time Read the owner's manual and you will learn a lot. If you don't have one, you can get one on line pretty easily....Also you can google "M55 cleaning videos" YouTube has a bunch and they are very helpful for a newbie!!!

Wow, bad pellets will do that! Let's hope your blower motor holds out until spring!
Good Luck, Bill

Thx so much. Yes, that's how I found the restart button from YouTube when I couldn't find it in the hopper. I wish I could understand the manuel better.

Wow, did you mean there was plastic wrapped around the auger as well as all the dust?
Not sure how this explains the blinking #4 light, though. Maybe the hopper lid switch tripped when you were trying to push the pellets down? Doesn't sound like it was the high limit switch if you were plugged up, unless it was still pushing the dust to the burn pot and that was burning hotter than the pellets?

PaulorAnn, did you use high temp RTV around the edges of the auger cover when reinstalling the auger cover?
