Always have a backup plan!...in my case, an Oslo

The bad: The pellet stove we rely upon as our primary source of heat has a bad auger motor.

The good: The Oslo is cranked up and we still have some firewood to burn plus a new auger motor is on the way.

I'm no Luddite but I get a lot of comfort in the thought that as long as we have the Oslo and some splits we'll have heat...despite power outages and troublesome electronic devices.

It's always good to have a backup plan. Must be nice to have that big quiet fire view again. Enjoy!

There's a lot to be said for the "quiet" of a wood stove.
Only really learned to appreciate that when we started burning pellets.
 
We had a pellet insert for 5 years. Pellets are easy to get here and reasonably priced. I loved it's convenience and waking up to a warm house. But when we remodeled and removed the fireplace I sold the pellet stove. Have not missed the noise at all and now with the T6 I still wake up to a comfortable house.

3 of my buddies have the same pellet stove. I believe it has two motors one for the fan one for the auger, but it's the same motor if I remember correctly. So they make sure that between the three of them someone always has a spare motor on hand. Works well for them.

Me, after listening to a pellet stove run, despite their pros, there's no way I could put one in my living room. I have light timers for when I'm out of town and just the noise they make drives me nuts, gotta unplug em when I'm home. Working in machine shops and construction my whole life, I really appreciate a silent home at times.

Nothing. I don't think, though I've never knowingly met one.
But I'm a techie...though one that really appreciates simplicity when it makes sense.
I've spent many times more effort on keeping the pellet stove going than I ever spent on cord wood stoves.
Good thing the pellet stove is in the basement too. It wold never fly in our great room.
 
We don't see them here. Luddites don't have computers.

The new pellet stove from Lopi is very quite! They spent a bunch of time and money trying to make it nearly silent, and it worked. Makes way more heat than other pellet stoves I've been around. Almost makes me want to get back into pellets, almost...;)
