OK, put a King in front of the firebox, or partly in, and use a couple of 30s to get back to the liner? [And have enough stack so the BK can breathe...though I haven't heard that issue with the 8" King.]

I looked closely at Kuma. It has unregulated air holes right in front of the cat. Not a fan of the technology or the build quality.

Very, very looking insert! Love the huge glass door, looks like a best of both worlds design/concept.
 
Very nice! How much clearance is there between the door and the ashlip? This stove would replace the Headthstone Clydesdale for us, my complaint with it is that there is almost no clearance between the door and the ashlip. The last one we did the door had a little sag and wouldn't even clear the lip. When ash and coals fall out onto the lip the door won't shut until you sweep it off. And their blower sucks. This is exciting!

There is a 5/8" gap from bottom of door to top of the ash lip. There is also a slip lip on the leading edge of the ash lip to help prevent anything rolling off the ash lip. The fans are dual squirrel cage fans mounted to two sleds that slip in and out from the front, below the ash lip. This way the fans are free of the hot surface for servicing or replacing.
 
That is beautiful! I would have gone for that before the Princess if it has the same firebox size or bigger- assuming it's a cat. I think it is because it says Ashford, but I think it isn't because I don't see the bypass control!
 
Wow that is a nice looking insert. I will shoot my BIL a picture and tell him to hold off, he had decided on the Clydesdale because he couldn't get a princess past the wife but he loves the functionality of my ashford. I think you will have another hit on your hands here.

Love the looks as well!! I'm also interested in the lack of bypass handle... I'll guess bk found a way to make it an all in one handle.
 
The bypass handle is in the middle, just above the door. Front and center.

There is a bypass, but it is recessed in rhe shroud, dead center above the door.
 
I sure hope there is an Ashford pretty conveective skin on a princess sized firebox box in the next few years.

Both of the inserts are gorgeous, best wishes for those to do well.
 
Dern guess I was seeing what I wished it was lol. I'm a practical type guy and enjoy how my princess sticks out onto the hearth. I do however notice how much of my heat actually comes from the glass all be it as well as the top. Question do you think the new 25 will be able to compete with the princess fans off with that large glass door?

We do not expect Princess Insert sales to be lost to these two new units. There are folks that love the idea of the heat exchange (firebox) sitting out onto the hearth.

As for the glass, yes these are quite large glass doors and when burning in the lab they put off a great deal of heat.

This is the Sirocco 25 Insert. Approved for masonry and factory built fireplaces. .90 gr/hr 2.3 cu.ft., 77% HHV and 83% LHV efficient, 16" logs N/S 22" E/W. Huge glass door.

How many square feet is the Sirocco insert rated for?
 
Am I right assuming it's size is between the 30's and the 20's at about 2.5? That one right there would look great in my living room fireplace, I'll be a beta tester for you ==c
