I trust bk and ws. Seriously, these are good companies.

I'm reloading on 24 hour cycles and my house is 78 right now. Too much heat can be had burning even 30 hours. I wish it could be stretched to 40!
Wow, a person that has used both WS and BK stoves. Pretty rare bird.
Im another rare bird, had the princess insert and now have the PH. Love both stoves but changed to the PH for the higher output and it has certainly delivered, the princess burned a little longer but was even heat for a long time while I can get enormous heat out of the PH when needed or burn it low and longer if conditions call for it. I noticed BK's coming out with an ashford insert, may get that for my upstairs fireplace next year so I would own both at once.

The new insert is supposed to be a sub 2.5 CF stove, 2.3 as I recall. Compromises must be made for an insert as you found with the princess.

Maybe for the Princess but not for all inserts; The Buck 91 will melt your face off. >>

It would be as a second stove in a small fireplace upstairs, perfect size.

That's why you gave it to your mother-in-law, eh?
I already had a couple stoves, she had a $500 heat bill. !!! Besides, this place is small; The mighty Buck would be melting my face off no matter where I went in here. ==c

The Blaze King Earl? ==c

"Sirocco 25", or so I hear. It doesn't look like an Earl to me. (In fact, it's a bit more princessey than my Princess!)

I see you're ignoring the obvious mother-in-law joke. Here's another:

A man's house is on fire. He runs out of the house with his son and tells him to wait outside. Then he runs back in and gets his daughter and brings her outside. Then his wife. Then the dog. Then he goes back in a couple of times without bringing out anybody.
So a fireman asks him, "Why are you going back in there?"
The man replies, "I'm turning over my mother-in-law."

Your right, he said Sirocco but maybe some other products, an Ashford insert would look nice n'est pas?

c'est vrai, l'ashford es muy bonita.

It's got the controls in the back corner though, so they'd need to rearrange it a bit.

("Chapter 4: Operating The Thermostat: Using a standard coat hanger bent straightish with a curvy bit at the end, fish around behind the insert until you feel something that might be a knob...")

Install another chimney? Why?[/QUOTE

My current stove is vented through my ole masonary chimney but through a 6" Magnaflex insulated liner with custom block off plate that I just installed about 5 years ago. I like where my stove sits and wouldn't want to have to install a new chimney in another location just to be able to use a top vented stove.

A new Blaze King Ashford 30 would be nice but Blaze Kings do not have a rear vent option. If I ever by a new stove I'll probably go with a Woodstock of some flavor as they do offer rear vent option.

"Is this stove going to overload my van?"
"Relax, it's not that much more than a mother-in-law."
