Mt Vernon vs. Mt Vernon AE

I've been doing alot of reading through threads and I notice most people with Mt Vernon's on here have the AE model. When we bought ours in 2005, there was no AE (or atleast it wasn't available to us in this area I am not sure when they were introduced). I am curious if anyone here has experiences with both and if the AE has many benefits over of the older Mt Vernon I have? I have been curious for awhile and was wondering if anyone could shed any light onto the subject! Thanks!
 
I have repaired both, and cleaned both, and know how both work. What do you want to know exactly? Besides the look they are totally different beasts. The new AE model came out in 2006 I think and has all new technology that has never been featured on a Quad unit before.
 
The Mt. Vernon AE is a completely redesigned stove. While similar on the outside to the older models, it is the newest generation of pellet stove incorporating a lot of technology from high-efficiency gas furnaces. Most evident from the user perspective is that it's much quieter, able to burn a wide range of fuels, easier to clean and more efficient (more heat from the fuel). This is accomplished by using DC motors, a microprocessor circuit for fuel variations, and a novel heat exchanger. The stove can also be connected to a 12vdc battery for running during power outages. All told the AE is an industry technology leader.

All this comes at a price, both for cost and servicing. The stove has firmware software that controls the many variables. Earliest models had a few bugs to be worked out with the software. But the good news is that the firmware is upgradeable and these issues appear to be completely addressed.
 
I appreciate both of the replies to my post. I was assuming they were pretty similiar and that the AE was just an updated model. I guess they are actually very different stoves. I was wondering if we had been better off with the AE if we had waited until the AE's were out. However, maybe not because the newer the technology the more expensive they get in everyway like BeGreen said. I think I will just stick with what I have and appreciate warm winters night inside when it's 15 degrees outside!
