So, it has been a while since I have heard any talk about Vermont castings defiant flexburn. Has anybody out there ran one for an extended amount of time? If so, let's hear any and all thoughts about it

No news is good news! I suppose.

Running the flex burn encore so just a slightly smaller version. Been burning it for 3 years. The factory catalyst crumbled to peices the first year. The replacement has so far lasted 2 years with no excessive signs of failure. The factory refractory cover broke this year. The replacement is twice as thick and twice as heavy and seems much sturdier. I have no signs of warping ect. So overall I am happy with it.

I wouldn't buy it again though. I was pretty much a novice regarding stoves and wood burning 3 years ago. If I knew more then than now I would have gotten a Blaze King Princess model. And these days I would buy a Ideal Steel Hybrid stove.

Overall its still a down draft stove and needs great draft. Many complaints have been poor draft. Back puffing smoke into the house. At least one user had continuous overfires. His stove was cracked. He upgraded to a Blaze King but then had smoke in the house issues with that brand as well. Not sure if he ever figured it out.

Its a wood stove. The cast iron is great. But there seem to be better on the market.

The new insulated liner should help improve draft. Keep us posted.

Not that its important but with the 25 foot liner I had before it never had poor draft, or backpuffed, I was just relaying an overall summary of previous posters. But yes. I am glad that damn thing is out. The installer dropped the new liner in today.

I am going to have the other chimney company come out though and double check his work.
