Good morning Hearthers,
After many hours reading and learning on this fantastic website I wanted to officially say hello and thank you for this invaluable resource. I've been burning wood for about 10 years now but have learned more about it in the past year reading this site than in the 9 years previous combined. I will be purchasing an Englander 30 NC whenever the price drops (watching the sale price of $719 creep north from Virginia, to New York, and hopefully New Hampshire next!), and I've been burning the old Russo #2 Combo stove in my basement for about 6 years now. That thing EATS wood but I've learned how to almost get an overnight burn out of her. Here's a pic of my current setup:

Welcome, Chris! I've lurked for a year or so here myself, though I am new to burning wood after a couple decades of being away from the wood stove I tended as a teenager. This past summer I bought a nice old New Hampshire farmhouse out in the country that's beautiful but drafty and the propane and electric heating bill is killing me--between the two I spent $1,000 heating this home the past month. I'm in the process of buying a Woodstock Progress Hybrid and having my ancient (but historic!) chimney reconditioned to support one.

Just as a heads up, unless you have multiple fire extinguishers I recommend moving the one from behind the stove to a place more easily accessible in the case of a fire starting in the area around the stove.

Amusing, a friend had me look at a similar old new Hampshire farmhouse in Sandwich, It has a couple of woodstoves and electric heat. I have never seen a main panel with so many 30 amp fuses. I expect they had to change meter frequently due to the dial spinning so fast. Luckily I convinced my friend that unless he wanted to do a gut, insulate the walls and put a real foundation under it to replace the granite one it was definitely a money pit. Good old New England construction rarely has up to date insulation.
 
Welcome aboard Chris. The 30NC will be a nice improvement. Just be sure to feed it dry, fully seasoned wood.

That's for the 13NC, the 30NC is $719.

Thanks Greg. I clicked on the link and got this. Looks like it was taking my local zip code into account.

Then I put in the Durango zip code 81302 and see what you are seeing. But note that this looks like a copy/paste error. They have the list price of the 30NC as $649 which is the price of the 13NC. Not sure if the Durango store will honor this. Has anyone tried? If it works, awesome!

Thanks for all the responses everyone. Tarzan I do have multiple extinguishers, but thank you for the advice. I'll definitely take the advice on the Englander, I must be doing something wrong as when I change my zip to get a lower price, and then try to purchase, it asks what zip you're shipping it to and when I type that in the price changes back to $899. I'll try it again now.
 
How do you ship to a Home Depot Store? I only see an option for ship to home, or pick up in store today.
 
I can't believe I just bought that stove for $519 plus $99 shipping. That's an unbelievable price. Hearth.com proves it worth again! Thanks guys, I'll be sure to post pics when I've got it installed.
 
Good for you Chris! I'm trying to get my nieghbour/ acquaintance to jump on this deal , but so far - no go. You know how we love pictures , so don't forget now
 
I'll definitely be posting pics gregbesia, can't wait to see how this thing performs... I've got 4 cords of red oak, maple and white birch seasoning in the yard right now waiting for next year. I was almost sad feeding my beautiful dry (18% moisture) red oak into the Russo this year because it burned up so fast. I feel like it got wasted. You work so hard to cut, split and stack and then watch it go up the chimney. Well, not for much longer anyway.

That's a good looking setup. I can see you believe in the axiom "Bigger is better" when building a hearth. I love that big hearth, great place to put wood, and dry it out good and heat it up before you load it in. Very nice install.

Thanks Simonkenton, the large hearth is a great place to keep the wood (and dogs) in the wintertime haha

Hey xman23. I took the advice of someone earlier in the thread who told me to change my home store zip to Durango, Colorado. Price came up as $519. Not sure why, but I'll take it!

Yes! Worked for me in SC... Change store to Durango and select ship to home. Total with shipping and tax was $659. Wasn't planning on buying now but couldn't resist this price.
