First if you have to be under a blanket that close to the front of that stove your not doing something right. Better stoke the fire!! The only thing that's in front of my stove is me. No better place to be with temps hovering in the single digits outside

Biggest problem is there's a door just out of picture that might as well be open all the time it's so drafty and with the wind blowing the room has a cold draft. Then the cold cinder block in inculcated walls don't help matters. Only spot insilat d is right behind the stove.

My foot, which is no longer cold.

An incessantly nagging and complaining woman that fails to appreciate the long hours researching stoves, building a new hearth, installing a chimney, and thousands of dollars invested to provide reliable heat while cutting gas bills over the years. I guess 75-76 degrees is just too hot, boy I'm an idiot for making our home comfortable.

Hope everyone else's wood stoves are working out well for them. Sweet dreams.

Me!

It's 4* outside -20 or something crazy with the windchill. And it in the upper 70s in my living room. I'm plopped on the couch just a few feet from the fire.

Me, my laptop, my sleeping wifey, & some toasty warm air coming from the stove...

Get those walls insulated. (and a new door) ;)

I really like your stone work at the hearth. How thick is that stuff? Is it veneer?
Looks nice.

Me and two lucky chocolate labs. Slept on couch one room away from stove while they were in front of it pretty much all night. Best spot in the house. Woke up to stove room 82 outside 9, reloaded with some more locust before falling back to sleep around 4:30.

Thanks. It is cultured veneer stone. Around 2-2.5 inches thick. The floor is solid limestone 12x12 squares. It's a really nice rich dark blue black when not covered in dust.

The kid loves the fire....
