summit and blower

I am 2 months into using my pacific energy summit free standing stove. I purchased the blower kit for it as well as a stove top thermometer. My question is I noticed that if I have the blower on and the stove top is around 425f but if I turn the blower off it will raise to 525f. Can I run the stove warmer with the blower on? Does it cool the stove down that much?

Yes, the blower will drop the stovetop temp 100º. You can run the stove at 650F all day long without the blower running and not worry about it.

I think he's asking if he's getting a false read from the thermometer. If he's running the stove at 650 with then fan on, then when he turns the fan off it'll rise to 750. So is 650 ok with the fan on or should he run it at 550 with the fan on?

I don't know the answer.

He can run the stove warmer than it is currently running. 650F with the blower off will equal about 550F with the blower on. Our stove hits 650F with the blower off daily.

it does cool the stove off. i run the blower pretty much constantly and have noticed the same stove top temperature drops as all have related. I think the rear/back of the stove maybe more than 100 degrees cooler. I had noticed during summer clean outs when I remove all of the firebricks, that the rear of the stove has some minor crud buildup behind the fire bricks, so every now and then, especially in the spring, I will run the stove hotter with the fan off in an attempt to burn off some of the crud. Casual observation is that this may help a little with the summer cleanout.

Thank you very much guys. This is all great advice. I do as well run the blower all the time as I find it helps to heat my 1500 square foot bungalow. I attached a picture where I am taking my temperature reading from. I have been scared to over fire my stove. I brought an ir thermometer home and that seemed to be the hot spot. Madison thanks for the advice on the spring burn to clean the stove out. All advice is greatly appreciated. The wife an I love having the stove.

I have no blower on mine but have the same fantastic stove. I regularly hit 700+ stove top and so far so good.

The angle of the pic must be deceiving but the clearances sure look tight? Maybe at least take the piece of paper/tag off of the blower cord to satisfy my OCD. Lol.

Thanks for the advice I love this site. Tons of information and great people. Those worried about my clearance I have 8 inches from each corner of the stove to the wall. 5 inches is the required.
