Burning Hunk

Some friends had a couple of doug firs cut down and asked us if we wanted some wood. Of course, it is free wood and will likely be ready to burn next season if split small. I arrived expecting to have to split some big pieces, but they had had someone already split it. Free and split, can't get better right? But what really struck me was the amazing amount of pitch infused fat wood that came from that tree. Starting fires will be a snap next year.

I think I ran into some of this today... Splitting Axe was having a TOUGH time splitting this stuff... got another log of it chopped up waiting for me to split it tomorrow.
