All About Energex: Fireside Ultra(FSU), Nature's Own, Stove Chow Thread

Folks, for the past few days, I have read on this forum all I could find about the Energex products, plus I talked to my contact in Energex. Here is a summary:
Energex, aka Premier Pellet Corporation, as described on their website manufactures two kinds of wood pellets.
1. The Pennsylvania plant makes the 100% hardwood pellet ("Hardwood Premium" in the light blue and green
bag) from Appalachian hardwoods.
Other names of this product are sold under: Stove Chow by Home Depot.

2. The Quebec plant makes the blend 60% softwood/40% hardwood pellet ("Premium Softwood Blend" in the
mostly green bag.)
Other names of this products are sold under: Fireside Ultra by Home Depot, Nature's Own by Lowe's.

I will mention that this Energex softwood blend is one of the highest percentages of softwood of any blend. Compare to
Maine Wood Pellets Blend is 35% Soft/65% Hard; Curran North American Pellet Blend is 30% Soft/70% Hard;
New England Pellet Blend, Green Supreme is 10% Soft/90% Hard.

I believe that Nature's Own is the Energex hardwood.It looks and smells just like Stove Chow.The bag says product of U.S.A.

They also make this pellet which is only sold to Stove dealers and like seasonal beers, can only be bought certain time of year then they are Gone.. Limited Production..
I get a few tons each yr from my dealer.. very hot/very low ash.. Kiln dried Super clean sawdust.
Far less Ash than the green/blue bag...
Actually stopped burning Regular Energex and Stove chows due to too much ash...
but to be fair, they both give very good heat..

2nd photo is the energex family...
No softwoods made here in the Pa Plant.
burned few tons of Energex regular Hardwoods and Stove chows same year...No difference. Same pellets.
All the softwoods and softwood blends come from Canada.

Thanks for posting this. An excellent photo of five Energex products. The big box stores get the premium grade pellets, bagged under
other names as stated above. The stove dealers get the real good stuff: Super Premiums and 100% softwoods. Just in case
anyone is wondering, a super premium is defined as having less that 0.5% ash.

This thread prompted me to actually read my bag of chows - it says go to www.stovechow.com and i can enter for free fuel giveaways. so i went to check it out and get some weird backdoor to a site that says US Pharmacopeia?

anyone get the same thing? i wonder if they were hacked.

This just might have saved me a TON of money. I love burning the hardwood Energex's (PA made green/blue bag)...but if the Stove Chows are the same thing, I could probably hit Depot and pay quite a bit less.

This morning, I received a delivery of Nature's Own from Lowe's. The bag states "Product of Canada" which agrees with
what was stated earlier that these are the Blend (60% softwood/40% hardwood) from the Energex Quebec Plant.
However, no place on the bags, does it mention Blend. But only states "Material: Wood".

I went on the Stove chow site 2 yrs ago and it was something different but was not anything related to chows or even wood pellets.
doubt if u will ever find anything like a stove chow web site.

That's strange.Maybe they changed something.The bags I have say Premier Pellet, Montreal Quebec.Product of U.S.A.But I bought them last year.
