Is there any real difference in performance between legs vs pedestel?

My wife voted for the ped, which I like as well. Still have the legs though.

Looks to be a pita to put the legs on. It will delay your first fire.

The biggest PIA is reaching some of the bolts.
It's not that bad. Easiest way is to tip on its side on a dolly. Reach through the back with socket and away you go. Just be careful when tipping up, those legs can break and/or bend.

Yeah I'll check it out. I will build the first couple fires in it outdoors anyhow to cure the paint, then probably add the legs to it one I get it down in the basement. Ido have a steel hand truck to tip it on so that shouldn't be a problem

I just lifted my 30NC up with my left hand while I attached the legs with my right hand.

;) ;lol

.

Well, stove was delivered on Tuesday. I dragged it out and fired it up this afternoon for a few hours to try to cure the paint.

Well, I used a dolly. I didn't literally drag it

Quite a bit of smoke came off the paint

Makes a guy wonder just how many of this model has been sold over the years. There's many just on this forum that own them and that's just a fraction of the total sold. Maybe someone at ESW has kept a tally?

@stoveguy2esw could probably tell us

I think the legs are an inch taller than the ped but I may be mistaken?? I went with the legs on mine and it was rather simple to change it out.

Is that a chrome spring handle? I like that way better than the brassy gold ones that came w mine and promptly got removed. I just fabbed my own handle for the door and left the air control naked. It really doesn't get too hot.

Using the legs will allow you to clean underneath the stove. It will be very difficult to clean ash and dust from beneath the pedestal.

Wow, that was convincing. I just talked myself into putting the legs on mine!

I believe you're right jotul8e2 but I just left the pedestal on mine

Took an act of God the get it down the bulkhead steps but she's in!!!

Hmmm, When I got mine it came with BOTH sets of chrome AND gold.

I put the chrome knobs on.:)

I always wonder what neighbors or people driving by think when they see someone setting their stove in the driveway and burning it. ;lol

I thought the same thing center tree. I sat out there with a woodstove outdoors for a good three hours, if anyone saw me they'd think I was nuts

Mine is supposed to show up tomorrow. I did the Durango, CO HD deal. That and after a $300 tax credit how can you pass one up? Nice looking set up. Report back with how well it heats.

Now tell us about how you smashed your toes letting go to scrabble around with your left hand chasing and picking up your nads rolling around on the floor. LOL!
