Ma.
I know there are not many E2 owners on here and I am about to call my dealer/installer, but figured I'd throw this question out there as I can't find any information. The wireless thermostat option for the E2 is absolute garbage. After replacing batteries multiple times and even placing the thermostat right next to the insert, it still intermittently doesn't communicate with the stove. It's been happening more and more lately and it's pissing me off. It either won't turn the stove on or off when it reaches its + or - 2 degree difference. I came home to a blazing 76 degree house and my thermostat is set to 70. The stove isn't receiving the signal even being 3 feet away. Anyone know a way to hardwire the thermostat or is this not possible on this unit?

HI LG, Quadrafire now has the EZ t-stat kit, available for you at NC from the dealer you bought your stove from. It is a hardwired digital programmable tstat that solves the communications issues the remote suffered from. You of course can run your stove manually still if you want to, or convert to this thermostat. Hookup instrux are easy and takes about 10-15 mins to do. Talk to your dealer, the unts have been shipping with this update for about 8-9 months, because of communication reliability. Good luck.

Yes, thank you!! Just spoke to my dealer who is fantastic by the way (Dave @ Mt McKinney electric in Holyoke, Ma.). From what Dave has said, I am the only one that has encountered this communication issue and his showroom floor model lol!!! But sure enough he is sending out a wired thermostat that I will hook up to end the saga. He did mention that the new thermostat only has a one degree swing though so he will be sending out a different option with a 2 degree swing.

That's great to hear and for you to give him a shout out. I think to many times we only hear the negative about dealers and the good ones never get an atta boy!

Glad your dealer is up to date, and taking care of you. Stay warm. kap

One main reason I chose a Quad over a Harman is because of Dave and his business (not a Harman dealer)Between the recall on the circuit boards and the thermostat, I have been taking care of in a friendly and professional manner. The issues were thoroughly explained to me and I wasn't pushed away as I was with another local dealer when I was purchasing a stove (Fireside Design cough cough)

LG glad to hear you're being properly supported. We've changed out about 10 EZ stats so far, when people have requested it to be done. This summer we will be contacting about 80 more people, offering it to them. HHT (Quad) sent us stats for every one that we had sold units to before the change in the wired digital stat. Most people have been positive about the change.

Is the failure on the t-stat communication part of the original problem?

Hi Lake Girl- if by the first problem you refer to is the shattering of some glass doors, no its not thought to be. For the RC, the receiver was housed actually inside the stove's steel chassis at the rear- I and others have wondered if being enclosed was the real issue. that the rf comms' signal was in essence being shielded from the receiver. It would have been interesting to note if the receiver box had been moved to the outside (like almost all other remote receiver boxes), would it have been more reliable to communicate. I like the move to the wired t-stat myself, simpler more reliable means of doing it. Of course I also run my stoves in manual only, so there.....anyway, hope that was what you were asking.

Two days after I called Dave at Mt. Tom's Energy, I receive my new wired thermostat. Dave gave me two options: The Quadrafire wired stat and Daves optional stat. I got to ask why o why would quad supply a stat with only a +\- 1 degree differential. The stove would go on and off like crazy stressing out the igniter. Dave's option gave me the a +\- 5 degree differential. While it is a very simple plain Jane thermostat, I couldn't be happier. I removed the old wireless thermostat receiver and installed and wired up the new one. My wireless saga has ended :)!!!

Glad to see your problem solved. I have a new Quad E2 with a wired T-stat. the unit that came with the stove has minimal swing and I have since replaced it with a LUX 9100s with a +/- 2.5 degree swing. So much better on cutting down on the start ups per hour. Stove runs great other than a little increase with the occasional banging from the auger. Not sure if its becoming loose or just some hard pellets breaking up. Haven't taken anything apart yet, waiting for the season to end then ill break it down for a good cleaning.
