I just bought 3 tons today of Inferno gold at Lowes 3.98 per free local delivery for 2 or more tons. I will have a total stash of 5.5 ton on hand I'm all set for next year.

$3.98 a bag at Lowes in Colonie NY this morning. Tore the plastic and revealed Green Supremes.... Meh. Lowes in Clifton Park has re-bagged Currans for the same, which I happily passed up on. Both do not perform well for me.

Before I drove to Lowes I called to see what they had or if they had pellets and the price ( HD was out, they had to throw out a bunch that got rain soaked they said).

Do you think they really threw out a lot of rain soaked pellets, or someone figured out it was cheaper to claim it as a loss than to sell them at 199 a ton? I could see some crazy manager at night with a hose soaking the pellets.

I got 2 tons delivered for $400. 1 ton of green supreme and 1 ton of nations choice. So far just burning the green supremes, unless it gets really cold I'll probably end up storing the nation's choice until next year

Well I know Tractor Supply has some rain damaged pellets around. These places just keep them by the trailer load outdoors, I said months ago now in the forum, that if they sit around long enough then eventually the weather is going to get at them. I called for pricing at Tractor Supply yesterday and then I asked if they are water damaged. I asked because I had bought a few bags there and some were damaged and re dried. The girl said that they have no way to know if some might be damaged in a ton if I buy tons but they will replace any that are. I don't think she was lying.

I believe ( it was HD that said they threw a bunch out) that they had damaged pellets yes. I also believe that some people are natural liars but I don't think this girl was lying. We did have really soaking rains recently and a lot of these places keep their pellets right out in the open and not canvased over either.

Now Lowes Keeps their pellets in the garden center, which has a certain amount of cover over it. The Lowes I called has 2,500 bags in stock. I think I'll buy a couple of pallets from them next week, the guy said his out going volume is very low and they deliver to my area on Tues and Thurs. I don't think he is a blatant liar either.

I had two tons of Nature's Own delivered. With free delivery, the total was $398.00. They are produced by Premier Pellet in Canada. I liked them so much I went back and bought 25 more bags. My local Lowe's still has lots of pellets. The employee said they may ship some of the pellets back to a covered warehouse. Sounds like a crazy idea to me. Also, they marked down the green teams from $349 to $299. I think that's still way too much for those.

I never cared for Natures Own in my stove but maybe they changed it up !

Lowes here is still at $4.98. They are nearly out and not getting anymore. Same thing with Menards home depot, farm fleet....etc. All out.

Got my second delivery of 2 tons of Inferno's from Lowe's yesterday ($199 + free delivery). From what I could tell, there doesn't seem to be any damage to them unless they unwrapped them, put on a new bag then rewrapped them. Now I have 4 tons sitting out by the shed. I placed some 6mil plastic over the top to keep this mornings heavy rains out of them. Maybe it will be nice this weekend and I'll have the gumption to get 3 tons of that in the house/garage (all I have room for).

Maybe we can trade some bags down the road. Should be picking up a ton of Blackstones shortly.

I was just thinking I need to make it out that way and pick up a couple bags to try. Would be happy to trade some instead.

Sounds like a plan. It will save you the drive over here and I find the need to be in the Manchester-Concord area frequently.

Depends on a few things. Did you specify Green Supremes when you ordered them? And also depends on you stove. I have never used either of those brands

I did specify green supremes and they were advertising green supreme as the only option at $3.99, hmmm....

I haven't tried either myself so was just curious if I'm getting an inferior brand

Well, the bags are Green - that's enough to confuse some people :p

I have tried over 10 pellet brands in the past 2 seasons and all have a good amount of ash. I haven't tried the good stuff yet like Okies or such, but I do know that my E2 will eat anything. Not a klinker or jam yet to this day

I bought two bags of NAP to test; on similar settings the flame is noticeably lower. With air adjusted to bring the flame up, the temps (measured at a mark 1" inside a center air tube) are 15-25 deg F cooler than the Blazer DFs I've been burning all year.

That's enough for me to not buy a ton or two. We don't run the stove full time, but when we do, I'd rather it be running hot.

Of course ! DF's are about as hot and low ash as they get but you don't generally get them at BBS pricing either. At least not out here in the east. They do have one competitor, AWF Pure White Pine, they are just about as hot, very low ash and no burn pot residue and generally at a lower price.. Even so, if you got to within 15 degrees of DFs, I'd call that pellet a winner too personally.

I have been using the Maine's Choice almost all winter. They burn well in my Quad. They are probably the hottest pellet I have gotten. A little messy but not too bad. No moon rocks in the pot like the Energex. Id our Lowes has some more I'd get them again.

It's always good to know what you can comfortably burn for pellet brands in your stove. I've burned lot's of brands and certainly still not hit the limit of brands out there. I think Natures Own is the only brand so far that I vowed to never buy again because of ash content. That was two years ago now, But it sounds like this year they may be better. Also a couple of years ago I burned FSU and thought them to be so so but this year they have been very hot. So the year seems to matter, or batch to batch even. Non the less, they all heat the house, the p61 manages to make heat out of them.
