I am just interested in finding out, if I decide to sell, what the resale value of a Grandpa Bear Fisher wood burning stove is. It is in very good condition inside and outside. Has not been burned for about 15 years - just sitting on the brick hearth we built for it in the 80's. Thanks!

The best way to judge the resale value of an older stove like this is to check your local newspaper classifieds, Craigs List and any other local publication for similar stoves to see what they are being sold for. There is no recent "new" pricing to base a used price on.

Moved to the Fisher forum.

I picked up a really nice grandma bear for 350. Paint was in good shape. Needed to replace maybe 6 cracked bricks. Handles were strait and not bent, which you find on many of these old stoves. Hope that helps. Asking price was 450.

Depends on the model Grandpa. There are unlisted stoves before 1980 with flat top doors, stoves built after 1980 with arched top doors with or without shields, UL listed or unlisted. If you're in a state that requires UL approval for all new installs, it can be difficult to get top dollar or to find someone willing to install it illegally. Brass or Nickel plated doors are more valuable than black painted doors. Glass doors should fetch a premium. They are also seasonal, now being the lowest, Sept, Oct. Nov.being the highest. Craigslist will sell cheap compared to waiting for a 30 day Buy it Now on eBay with a good description.
Otherwise whatever the buyer and seller agree upon.
