Iam going with Oak.

1 & 2 have a bark similar to cottonwood. just a thought.

I say you have maple in the 3rd and 4th pictures. I see a few maple leaves on the ground there to support my guess. The first pictures are not oak. There are no visible "rays" in the end cuts.

How about sassafras and hickory.

I agree with cincyburner, especially the first two being sassafras. I have a ton of it here.

Sassafras has a distinct smell, right? The bottom 2 pictures are Hickory.

The bottom two look like hickory as stated above. The top two hard to tell maybe hickory. Is it stringy when split. Is it a hard wood to split.

Cool thanks for all the input and opinions. These really have me scratching my head. Most trees are a piece of cake to identify even in winter... But whatever maybe when I start burning I'll have a better idea.

I'm sorry but the first two are definitely not ash if you swing an axe dull swing it bounces right off... And both are definitely not oak which is why I'm stumped...no pun intended

I didn't think the first 2 were Ash. However, after further inspection, the first 2 don't appear to be oak, either. The lichen on the bark make it hard to identify. At least it all looks like it will burn pretty well in a couple years.

1 and 2 look like Sassafras to me. Not sure on the other pics.

I shall name him Harold. He looks like a Harold to me.
