Guy up the road from me had log lengths delivered about a month ago.. right now, he's got seasoned wood for sale. Lots of people buy it! His racks never last much longer than a month... kinda makes me want to sell some. I already give a few pickup loads away per year to neighbors/ friends..

my dad keeps buying wet wood for $50 face cord and then burns through it in his outdoor boiler like crazy. He says the dry stuff burns too hot and will boil it over. I told him he needs a small weight on his air door if that is the case. He just argues and burns up 10-20 cord a year. I cut wood and it is usually ready in about a year.

Go out into your woods now, before the brush comes in, and grab a butt-load of small (6-8") dead trees with the bark fallen. Get it split and stacked in the wind now. Then you'll be set for next winter, and you can let the Oak sit for a couple years.
