I'd much rather have a nice curvy gothic looking cast iron stove..

A lot of folks feel that way (especially wives, it seems), so the ability to customize Woodstocks doesn't quite cut it for many. Having an infinite choice of artwork to lay over the basic design is never going to help if you can't get past the basic design.

When we first got a stove years ago, I would have considered a steel, or a soapstone from Woodstock, even though I prefer the cast iron look. But the wife didn't just PREFER it, she mandated it... it was going to be cast iron or nothing at all.

The laser cut artwork is not a substitute for an eye-pleasing core design. It's window trim that looks tacked on.

Not a huge fan of most of Woodstock designs . . . but a) they still make a great performing stove and b) my tastes are not the same as every one else so I think it's great that they are willing to do something different with their designs which do appeal to some folks.

Yes, they get an A for innovation. Just not my thing.

I must be the minority male because my wife thinks the ideal steel and absolute steel are great and I don't like either one. With that said we still have a pre-order in for an IS. We should be finalized by the end of the month before the sale ends. I like function, but I'm also very particular with looks, apparently my wife isn't. Of course she also agrees with everything I ever suggest...for someone reason. Not sure how I scored this opportunity, but I'm not complaining. She's very agreeable. I don't want to spend $1000 more on a blaze king for looks, so this is the compromise.

Wait until you open the crate. You will love it.
