A tree company was working by my job site today. I inquired of what they were going to do with the wood that was already loaded in a truck. They were nice enough to follow me back to my job and dump the load of red oak. Can't wait to haul it home.

Wow free wood and even free delivery!!!! Doesn't get much better than that... Great score...

Nice of them to drop it off for you, that makes for a pretty good day.

Nice Oak score! spot on subject line. Always good to ask after all a majority of the time they say yes.

those look like they would be great to split. My son and I would have a blast with those

score!

Simply.........beautiful!

Very nice indeed!

Things don't get much more perfect than that. Incredible.

Will you have the time to let it season? It's hard to wait on dessert but I just went through some spotty drying on 18 month live-cut oak. Limbs were great, trunk was not as great. Next winter will be fantastic.

Nice find ! Did you cut that to length or did they ?

Usually if they have a clam truck to lift and transport the tree services will keep the logs much longer like 8 or 10 foot lengths since bucking to firewood length takes time that their not getting paid for.

Either way free would is the best wood !

I'd guess a cord or a little under. Nice score, even better when it's already bucked. >>

Yes, they had it it all bucked up this way. I was surprised at the longer lengths. Pretty consistent at 18"-20" with a few a bit smaller/longer. Last tree company score I got rounds at 8"-12". They were very short, irregular and hard to stack. This load will season until winter 2017-18. Can't wait to get it into my stacks. Finally two years ahead. Thanks!

Do long splits fit in your stove ? If they are cut too short it is a pain to stack but atleast they fit. Too long you end up having to cut them.

I couldn't fit 20 inch splits in my stove but I'd still take them and trim them up. Nice score !

My Buck 91 takes 22" NS or EW. I can just fit 24" NS but it is close to the glass and will blacken up a bit. My model has no fire brick on the sides so it is HUGE inside. Love it!
