So I lucked out with a local tree service. He doesn't split wood and as long as I have room to drop it, he keeps it coming. It's a win win for both of us.

I am not there most times he is dropping it so I don't ask him, but figured I would come on here and ask. I found a few of the old pictures before it was split. I get various trees, and here are a few. Can anyone identify these?

This is in the Pennsylvania area. Thanks!!

Some people get all the luck! I'm out in the Kennett Square area and would love to strike up a relationship like that with someone. I know there are some other users of the forum from my area, so I wonder if there is an opportunity for some of us to somehow figure out a way to make something like this beneficial for us all.

Thats a chitload of wood!! I cant tell if this guy is bragging or what. Its not that relavent what species you have really. It looks clean and solid.
Theres no poplar or knotty pine. It all looks like solid hardwoods. The limbs are a little misleading but you have Black cherry and some Red or Silver maple. Looks like you might have some Red oak and something that might be an Ash type. Theres alot of other stuff there Im not sure about.
Tell the guy to keep it coming...lol

Bushfire, my colleague at work lives in Kennett Square. He just started burning wood as well. And I really did luck out.

Applesister, the two pictures were from January. The wood is split and drying. But I will take your advice if I don't get to the stuff quick.

I see lots of beech, and I'd say oak. That is a great deal! Be sure to give that guy a Christmas card and find out if he's appreciate a good bottle of wine/bourbon/root beer...

Thanks all. I had another load dropped today. I was splitting and stacking for next year. I never know what kind it is though....haha

I would guess Beech, Ash and Oak.

You're lucky!

I actually ended up developing a pretty good relationship with my tree guy and I've meaning to text him as he said he might drop off some wood for me. I just sent him a message. ==c

I see the Beech for "shore" and not so sure about the rest. Congrats on a GREAT score.

_g Some people have all the luck.......LOL

Hey brother, when you run out of room send him over here :) Is that Einstein in the background pic #3?

I agree with most who have weighed in here. The possible maple in question looks like red maple to me. I have a a number of these trees and that was my first thought

Wondering if anyone can help me with this wood. I thought it was some sort of soft maple by the bark. But after bucking one piece and having to sharpen my chain over and over I'm convinced it's something really hard that I've never seen before. My old farmer neighbour thinks it's hedge apple (aka Osage Orange) it's dense, heavy and a nite mare to split. 17e42aaa8411b4917166af91adf60ca1.jpg17d1263eaa06e3b8dd356e2bcbaa426f.jpg2e7d40a1268a895d733aa95685f5eee4.jpg

To me it looks like you have nice variety of woods. They all look solid. Autorotate you have a great buddy there. I would just look at that you have a lot if great wood and I'm sure it burns great. It's nice to know what you are burning but if you get heat it's not that important. Plus you probably have a little of every species with all your loads, awesome I know there are a lot of jealous guys right now myself included!

@Autorotate Semper Fidelis and yes great score and do whatever it takes to keep him or she dropping that wood off. ::P::P
