Just picked up 5 tons of pellets at TSC today. Got them for $190 a ton. The pellets in my local TSC are Dry Creek product. I bought 10 bags 2 weeks ago to try them out and was very happy with the way they burned. I will now wait for the next drop in price and buy another 5 tons when the price is right.

I've got pallets of pellets in my shop from 4 or 5 years ago. No issues. kap

I burnt some that were around a decade old that sat in a first model Whit that came with me from when I moved to western MN. Burning some pellets right now that are three years +

r u worried about moisture problem?
As long as I keep them in the garage I have no worries. As others have said pellets keep pretty well as long as you keep them dry. This is the year that I am going to probably squirrel away as many pellets as I can. I have a feeling that the prices are going to come down even more as we progress through spring. Going to try and lock my price in for the next 2-3 years.

grab as many as you can on the cheap, I'm looking to do the same but prices aren't dropping around here yet

In New England, we recently experienced $100/ton sales with Lowe's. Some of the pallets are in marginal
condition, but Lowe's said they will refund for any bad bags. That does mean you need to unpack the
pallets within a few days after delivery.

Is that mold on your walls?

Could be. About 8 years ago I stacked some wet wood on that wall. I'm not worried about it. Its more of a stain than mold. It's been dry for years. some day I will prime and repaint.

Nor have they here. However, I am going make a few calls today as I see at least one local supplier has just received a couple truck loads and it is nearing the season end here.
But I still want to see what Cedarjunki comes up with before I get too far ahead in purchase.

Good score! I doubt prices will drop lower than that though...[/QUO

I agree with you but if they do I am ready to pull the trigger. I look at it this way. I have locked in next years supply (I burn 4-5 tons) and if it does go lower I will have locked in the following year. I know I could buy at the $190 price and be set for the following year but I am willing to take the gamble to see if they drop farther. I've always been a bit of a gambler and it won't kill me to buy higher if I have to but love the idea of getting them even lower to get these pellets from the greedy middle man or the manufacturers that artificially raised their prices to take advantage of the past few years.

Update. Another great score. Just checked with my local Lowes and they have marked down Green Team Platinums form $6.98 a bag to $3.50 a bag. That's $175 a ton. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on another 5 ton this week end. Big box stores are trying to unload their supply to make room. Got to love it!:):)

If it`s his home grown pellet mill you are referring to , I don`t believe he is going anywhere with it other than it being an excercise in futility.
I see it as money down the drain.

Yes, that is the mill I am referring to, and yes, it is your "opinion" that it is money down the drain. People smarter than you thought Bill Gates was wasting his time too, but you would'nt be here spreading your negative thoughts if he stopped what he was doing because some negative people thought he was wasting his time now would you.

Well ended up buying another 6 ton of pellets this week. Ended up getting Green Team from Lowes for $157.50 a ton. They had them marked down to $3.50 a bag and I opened a Lowes credit card and received another 10% off. Just finished stacking up my 11 tons. Trying to figure out where I can store a few more tons. I don't think we will see these prices again for several years, if ever.

I picked up the same Dry Creek from my local TSC for the same price. Going back for another ton tomorrow!!! Gotta take advantage of the price because who knows where the price lands next season. Besides, we just got 4 inches of snow overnight! it went from 78 Friday, 60 Saturday to 28 and snow right now, WTF?!?!?

Hope you got your pellets. I see that my TSC just raised their prices back up to $4.99 a bag.

I went just as they opened and they were changing the price. The manager was there and I honestly didn't even have to say anything at first because he saw my reaction to the price change. All he said was did you call or purchase recently at the reduced price. I said yes and he told the cashier to ring it up at the reduced price. I went back yesterday out of curiosity and they were $4.99 and saw the same manager and all I did was shake my head. He said it's the regional manager that sets the price and I said "you have 12 pallets left outside WTH don't you sell at the lower price?" Glad I bought when I did and now I'm good for next season :)

Good to hear. They will sit on those pellets until this fall now, or they will mark them down again this summer.

Went to tsc yesterday to purchase some pellets. I wanted the hardwood pellets in the blue and white bag, but they were all gone. They only had around 25 bags og green supremes left. I only brought 2 bags and the cashier rang them up at 4.99 a bag. Thank God the price was still on the floor. She said they changed the price to $4.99 in the system. She gave them to me for $3.99.
