I drove by the old Pennington wood pellet plant in Peebles, OH on RT 32 earlier this week. This mill was purchased by Northeast Wood Pellets two years ago and they sell a brand called ThermaGlo Wood Pellets.

The mill is next to the road so you can easily see their inventory levels. I've been to a few mills before but have never seen the amount of pellets they had in inventory. There was an area, probably the size of a football filed, that was completely filled with pallets of wood pellets. I cant even imagine how many tons or truckloads they had in inventory.

Hopefully other mills have similar inventories and this will translate to lower prices for the consumer.

Thanks for reporting that.

I think we are going to see a lot of year old pellets piled up in the sellers yards this year for us to burn next winter.

Don't forget that wood pellets are often used in the oil fields as absorbents. Low production in the oil fields will allow for more inventory at the pellet mills... if oil production ramps up, that source of demand will increase.

The local LG dealer is saying they have inventory for going into next year. So not only did many of these pallets sit out all winter but now they will weather a summer here apparently. Holding right now at $6.50 a bag incidentally, when HD sold out and Lowes is selling out at $3.99. Although that's the cheap stuff, Lowes in their infinite wisdom somehow seems to think Stove Chows is the "good stuff" and asking $6.99 a bag. Their nuts if they think I'll pay $6.99 for those when I can get LG for $6.50 and less by the ton.

You mean stove chow or green team for $6,99. I've never seen chow at lowes. We didn't see any of the $99 per ton around here and all lowes and Home Depot seem to be sold out ither than lowes having green team I did however score 2ton of lgs for $225 and 2 ton of thermaglow for $250 so I'm happy to have 4 ton squirreled away for nxt year for $475

My local Lowes just marked down all it's pellet inventory 50% this week. I can now get their Green Team for $175 a ton and their cheaper pellets for $100 a ton.
