I have a 25yr old Lopi Foxfire pellet stove that isn't working. It has a rocker switch that is used to turn on the exhaust blower. I cleaned the stove, went to turn it back on and it was like the little orange indicator light flickered but didn't stay on and the exhaust blower won't come on. I jumped the wires and bypassed the fuse and still nothing. Is there another trick I can use to further isolate the problem so I know which part to order? I can get both the control box and the switch box but they are almost $300 each and not returnable. Any help is appreciated! Thank you.

If you bypass the switch and the fuse, I would check to see if you have power at the blower with a meter. I know nothing about this stove though.

double check all your electrical connections, you may have very well bumped a wire while cleaning the stove and caused a loss of connection on one of the connectors.

Okay I got it working by jumping all 4 wires that hooked to the main power button. I just used some galvanized utility wire that I had laying around and taped it all up. Is it safe to run it this way until I get the new switch box? I'm sure I'll never be able to just purchase the individual plastic power switch itself. Everything running to that switch had to be low voltage not line voltage correct?

I don't believe I'm reading this. Very unsafe, get the correct electrical wire. There's only one other guy on this forum that would do something like this.

Bottom line man, when you are dealing with 110V, you can burn your house down. If you are not comfortable doing the basics, like checking continuity across a rocker switch, don't do the work.

If you want to learn, have someone teach you. Everyone has a starting point, but that point does not involve hot-wiring switches and controls.

I never have understood guys like you on these message boards. Do you hang around here to help people or just make yourself feel better. I was just asking for help and you decide to call me and apparently some other unnamed individual out. Go suck an egg.

To everyone else though thank you for your help. I am going to look in to those rocker switches and or just purchase the new switch box entirely.

I assume the biggest danger from hot wiring a switch is that if one of the fail safes detects a problem it won't be able to shut itself down??

I would not run it like that personally ... especially if not at home. Is it possible to replace rocker switch? Do you have old one to take to Radio Shack or similar to find replacement?

Is this it? http://www.stove-parts-unlimited.com/Travis-Industries-Start-Switch-p/90-0511.htm

Another rocker: http://www.stove-parts-unlimited.com/Travis-Industries-Large-Rocker-Switch-p/98900750.htm

PS ... I'm thinking the second rocker switch might be the one but call or try their on-line chat!

Yes it is the second one, thank you so much! I didn't know you could get Travis parts online I thought it was impossible. Thank you again!

Okay I finally ordered and have in my hand the new rocker switch. I was hoping to get some guidance on the wiring of the switch. Unfortunately last year when I took the old switch off some of the wires pulled off the switch itself before I could see which wire was connected to which terminal. I have a service manual for the stove and I do see a wiring diagram for the switch but it doesn't specify which terminal each wire should connect to. Is it possible that it isn't important which terminal each hooks to and more important that you keep two pairs of wires together?

The switch has 4 terminals labeled 5b, 2a, 4b, 1a. I have 4 wires. green, green/white, brown/white and red/gray.

I attached the wiring diagram that I have if that helps.

Thanks for any help!
