Enviro Mini wont start..plenty of pellets.. ignitor

I believe it is my "cartridge heater" otherwise know as an ignitor. If it is bad and I throw an ohm meter across it, should it be open? Any idea what a normal reading should be? If I did my math right.. P=V^2/R.. so for a 400 watt ignitor I should read around 36 ohms.. anyone find a cartridge heater from Grainger that works for the Mini A? $150 is steep.

If it's bad, it will read open, unless it has two windings in parallel (rare). Your calculation is close enough. Many of us have used Grainger heaters with good results. You need to check wattage and dimensions and lead wires. My stove needs long high temp leads, so the Grainger heaters would be iffy. I found heaters reasonably on line, just shop around.

Hi hockey, Yep the ignitor will read open if its burned up and about 35-40 ohms if its good. Don't know about grainger ignitors though. Don't replace many Enviro ignitors, they last pretty well. Good luck in your search.

Hello
The enviro igniters have a special circular mounting flange with 2 bolt holes. The generic ones do not have that flange.
