More wood ID...

Not sure of either of these scrap pieces. Two have very definitive rings around them from the center out, like a bullseye. Very light color to them. The bark and color is noticeably lighter than the black walnut from yesterday I posted. They are actually on top of the walnut, so if you look closely, you'll see how they vary in color on the bark and heart wood. The 2nd piece of wood has a little junk around the edge (about an inch), but mainly good wood. I can't tell if it's sassafras or not because I smelled too much and my nose needed a break. The piece is toward the base of the trunk (same piece, two different pics). Thanks gentlemen!

Now that I've searched some, I'm thinking the first two may be cottonwood (Eastern of course). This is a thread that has a variety of poplars: http://patriothardwoods.com/poplar.php, which can be called cottonwood. That pic of poplars almost makes me think that I don't have black walnut from my pics yesterday, and it's another type of poplar. Hmmm...

Thank you gentlemen for the input. I think I ruled out cottonwood. It does look a lot like mulberry. Cherry for the 2nd ones is doable as well. Either way, c/s/s. Burn it later.

Yes. The largest ones are the "black cherry" pieces. I had two larger and about 3 smaller of the same type. In the newer thread picture I posted of the black cherry, you can see the large one underneath the close-up smaller one.

Not only that, but the last picture is from the large round.
