This is that time of year I could really appreciate a thermostat on my pellet stove. So much on and off with the on and off weather. Just another thing to add to my "next time" wish list.

Only good thing about not having one is that I always feel the need to clean a stove before I turn it on. Better burn that way.

I just Googled "Napoleon NPS40 remote thermostat" and it looks like that is possible to add a remote thermostat. Poke around those links.

Hello

Actually the manual control panel does not allow a T-Stat. Here is the good news!

The stove is the same as the Napoleon NPS-45, so you can purchase the Digital Control Panel from a Napoleon Parts dealer and upgrade your stove!

Then Bingo Bango just add a nice T-Stat and you will be cruising! Not the cheapest and easiest upgrade but very doable if you like wiring!

See control board here.

Thanks for the link. That upgrade look interesting. I know that stove has a few other upgrades like the burn pot purge every hour. My stove does not. Would that have any impact on using a stat with this?
$250 for the board, then the stat.
Thanks for the link. Lots to think about.

I have converted an Enviro from dial a fire to the digital age. Similar swap to your NPS 40. I would run over the parts list on the 2 units and compare components JIC. I'm pretty sure you would need the wiring harness because the molex connector is needed for the digital board. But other than that, I think Don is correct and should be a relatively easy swap.

The digital board also has a purge cycle to assist in cleaning during the run. This would help with iffy pellets and clinker formation. ;)

Sounds like a viable option, to make a good stove, even better? That purge cycle sounds like the Cats Meow.....

How does this purge work. With no cleaning rods etc. I can only think it would increase the air flow burn off the pellets without more feeding pellets, but not sure how that is done when my draft is manual. Sorry to show my ignorance. I have only lived in the world of a manual stove, except that it doesn't have to be lit manually.

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life. Save$, did you ever upgrade the NPS40 to the electronic control board? I'm looking into doing the same thing and wondering if anyone has some experience.
Thx

Well it's not like you can install the NPS45 board and you're off to the races! You'll need a wiring harness too. The igniter off limit switch will not be used anymore in the new set up. Hopefully the control fits too, I think there is a mounting plate the board goes on to that then mounts to stove, I'm not sure if an upgrade kit is available or not

Thanks for the reply, it looks like I can splice the new wiring harness into the stove without too much trouble and the control board appears to be the same size. The igniter off limit was a mystery, so thanks for the tip on that. It doesn't look too difficult, but none of the parts are returnable so I'd like to have a little more confidence that everything is gonna work before pulling the trigger. I haven't been able to find an upgrade kit but I have an email into Napoleon. Thanks for any advice.

Also, you won't use the 160 fan limit switch that overrides the rheostat
