Driftwood !!

Hi All,

I know, i know ......... Driftwood cannot be burned in stoves due to the presence of salt. Has anyone ever tried removing this to make it suitable for burning? I was thinking of soaking the stuff for a month or so in a waterbutt, then drying for 18 months. I know this is a lot of effort, but i have access to limitless quantities of the stuff.

I don't know as I'd feel confidant that I could have leached all the salt out of a once saturated chunk of wood.
Seems like it's not worth the risk of damaging your stove.

+1. By the time it would take for you know if it may be safe, you may have come to realize you have compromised your setup.

Not worth it to me, A few years back there was a lady here from Alaska that would burn drift wood (only source) she would replace her whole stove every three years due to the salt eating the stove guts from the inside out.
