This grass popped up in a rocky drain area of my yard. I'll replant it if anyone knows what it is.
I'm in north central NJ. It has rained here for a solid 10 days.

I saw some of this grass today while driving, in the bottom of a thicket next to a small stream. It seems to be some sort of water loving grass.

The best looking grass always grows were you don't want it to grow. I rake, dethatch, lime, feed water my lawn, cut it high, sharpen my blades twice a year and still the DOT median grass that no one cares about looks 5 times better than my lawn, frustrating lol

Have you seeded recently? Maybe the rain washed the seeds into the drain and then they sprouted
Don't think so. Its along a divided highway.

Looks like a pile of seed dumped and sprouting. Blades don't look wide like fescue but not too fine. Color, medium. I'm guessing perennial ryegrass, my favorite since it is not a wetland grass.
