Riding mower won't go forwards or backwards. It's about 6 years old and I've never had an issue. Even though it's old, I purged the hydrostatic system just for haha's. It didn't work. Drive belt is taunt and engine runs fine and blades will engage. Any suggestions as to my next step - short of buying a new mower because it's a transmission issue?

Does it have the lever on the back to dis engage the transmission? If so any chance that came loose?

I've also seen a broken axle shaft key at the wheel end cause that since all the power is just spinning the freewheeling shaft.

Good one. Can you push the mower with power off?

Is this a ZTR or tractor type mower? What model Husqvarna Never miind. I see it..on the heading;em One of the things you usually get with price is quality of the hydro trans including durability of the gearing. I'm not sure which trans model they used here. Still, they can be replaced probably cheaper than a new mower.

How is the mower used? Mowing only, garden implements? How many hours?
