We slept with the windows open last night. Then this morning it dropped like a rock to 50 and never hit 60 today with a real gusty NW wind. Hah, I saw something I have never seen before on my weather channel weather on my phone, it says tomorrow NSW wind. What will they think up next to cover their butts !

If they saw ENSW wind, then start worrying - that would sound much like a tornado to me

Been very windy here over the weekend and today. Even with the rain, special weather alert for dry conditions-brush fire danger. The wind makes it impossible for my wife to get out on her new bike(bicycle that is!). We haven't had the windows open much but we never do this time of year due to the kids allergies.

Hoping that we're done at this point, had to turn on the boiler last night as it was pretty cold.

Had a 4 split fire this morning. On the other hand, its great outdoor working weather.

May not have a choice as the Bixby is throwing code that the feed motor is not working. Would explain the several stops and the signal of hopper out. Heating with the Harman is overboard as it heats the basement slab. Can fire the Elena for a bit in the AM as we will be about 40 or so for a few mornings.

The corn fields around me got cooked with the very cold weather Friday night and Saturday. Still had ice on puddles at 9 in the morning.

Light and variable, wildfire fighters nightmare
I know that is how some jumpers in the US have been killed. Drop in one spot on a flank and the wind shift brings it back on them. Mother Nature has no sense of fair play. Alberta still struggling ... some mandatory evacs; Syncrude and Suncore camps are in precautionary evac of non-essential personnel. NWOntario Red Lake 03 fire now up to 75000 hectares in both Manitoba/Ontario and not under control.

My local area is not out of the woods yet by any means. Air is very dry and with shy of an inch of rain last week we are still close to explosive and temps are going above normal again.

The heat has been on once each morning since I reported our weekend high a few days ago. But today made it up to 67 and only down to 57 last night vs low 40's. I haven't looked for tonight yet.

And we had a fire warning up yesterday, strong NW gusts yesterday up to 30 mph all day long. And even with nearly a week of rain back a little ways now and some overnight rains here and there we are pretty dry once again. Cut the grass today again and went up and took a shower after, I was covered with dust and pollen from head to tow, looked like someone shook a powder puff all over me with green and tan powder on it.. I only get along with that for so long and start breaking out in a rash, though with some herbs and local honey and pineapple I've been taking I've avoided it the last couple of years. My hands haven't even broken out this year amazingly. It's the spring stuff that gets me, once we get past that I'm good. This is year two with no allergy meds for rash or for runny nose etc. Hey I'll do natural before chemicals any day if it works !!

This morning was the warmest in several days - at 38*, and the wind has calmed down - riding weather this morning - Yippee!

Oh yeah, and the stove has been going every morning when I get up.

Shut the P61a off about an hour ago and changed my signature to reflect it. We are well into shoulder season now, maybe a month to six weeks of heating to go but will use oil for the low amount of heat it takes to heat this time of year.. The stove I think has been lighting a dozen times a day in room temp auto lately then off again, if not more and low burns at that. So ya, I'm done for this winter ! We used about 70-80 bags or so, that's some mixed heat and more than I thought I would do of full time burning combined.

If I don't see you all in the threads it's cause I'm spending time over in the fly fishing forums !!

Why shut it off for the season? Mine is manual light but I can start it in 40 seconds with the torch when needed.

I burn corn or corn blend and to extend the life of the exhaust system it best I clean and fog the burners to extend their life.

Well really all I did is shut the stove off, I'll clean it in the fall. It's off for" the season" because even the central oil heat hasn't run all that much and with my burn cost being about equal between oil and pellets for the small amount of heat needed, and since I'm out of pellets anyway. Well it's all a moot point by now , I never have burned this late in May anyway, even when we burned coal and when oil cost twice as much. I mean the heat came on twice or three times in the last week and a half for about 20 minutes each time.

Incidentally the latest revelation by the local weather guys says: 74 deg with Winds south at 0 mph ?

Crazy weather -- I ran the stove Saturday and Sunday (admittedly on a low setting) and by Thursday I'll have the air-conditioning on if the forecast holds. ;em

No heat has come on in a week now, yay ! Broke out the shorts and t shirts Tues, sleeping with windows cracked open and one night I slept half the night on top of the covers before ducking under them. 7am, it's 64deg outside.

Still waking to upper 50's. Some rain has lowered wildfire issues but still very dry and no moisture reserve for crops.

Uncovered the a/c outside and flipped on the breaker in the basement. Not a day too soon, with the kids allergies, open windows aren't an option for a couple more weeks! You should see the electric meter spin!

We went from the cottonwood , Maple and ash trees to grass pollen in the last 2 weeks. The black car was peppered with yellow. Thanks to Loratadine spring is not a nasal headache.

We have had air quality alerts up all week, I didn't bother looking to see what pollens are involved.

For head dripping and itchy eyes I take local honey and fresh pineapple, works for me and beats taking another chemical medication. But yeah the pollen is wicked this year. Possible thunder showers over night and Monday looks like rain.
