Hi , I would be grateful if anyone could assist with a query I have making my own pellet silo. I am using the base of a very small silo which contains the suction arrangement. It was about 4 foot high and the new silo is 9 feet high. I'm wondering if the increased weight crush the 'hat' and if I should make something like a table above it to relieve any strain, any thoughts? I attach a couple of photos

The hat should be fine, the issue will be the strength of the sides. pellets can exert a pretty good outward pressure, especially as the column gets higher. the original sides may not be heavy enough to handle additional pressure from the taller column of pellets.
proceed carefully.
