Hello! This is my first post here. I just bought my first home and I am VERY excited that I can now heat with wood, the only problem is I have no knowledge to do so! I have a country flame insert that has been cleaned and inspected with a new chimney liner. Anyhow I would like to figure out what model my insert is. The previous owners had no information on it so I don't know where to begin. I also don't know if my fire brick needs to be replaced some bricks have cracks, but I can't seem to pry them out without tearing them up even further. A friend has a similar model that has a 2-3 inch lip from the burning surface to the bottom ledge of the doors, mine does not. Is this normal? I suspect that the previous owners may have double stacked the bricks, but again can't confirm without destroying the brick. Lastly there is no ledge on top to put a kettle for humidity, any tips on alternate ways to humidify? Thank you for any and all help!

For humidity you can find a half kettle. Basically rounded in the front but straight in the back so it fits on a narrower surface. Look at my profile pic for an example.

That being said if you want to humidify the room you best bet is probably a legitimate humidifier preferably with a humidistat so you keep the air in a comfortable range. You probably won't be able to steam yourself into a comfortable humidity level.

Welcome to the forum. For the most part, cracks in bricks will not affect their performance. Can't help with your model but you may find more info like a tag if you remove the surround.

Some better pics including interior would help.
