So....we smell odor from the fireplace wall which was coated with soot E en after installer repair exterior masonry work so moisture is not supposed to be seeping in. The fireplace wall should have been cleaned before insert installation but we didn't think it would have been an issue.
Now I want to have the insert disconnected from the liner and scrub the wall ourselves. I wasn't home when the install was done. Is this something I can easily disconnect and reconnect w/o forking over several hundred dollars?
The insulated liner is in the chimney, I figure using a block off plate, roxul and sealant to completely seal anything above the insert where the damper plate used to be as a last resort to seal off all odor. Anything you can think of w/o removing the liner?
