Just saw the movie of Muhammad Ali's Greatest Fight based on the court case of conscientious objector to the draft during Vietnam War. While the movie centered on the Supreme Court, it had actual footage of Ali and some of his interviews. No ill will to being stripped of his title or ability to fight in the US ... his view, if he did hold ill will, he would be a hypocrite. Those responsible were doing what they thought was right at the time. Impressive.

In so many ways he was the best of America. He spoke and acted on his conscious, in spite of great personal cost. And he performed great service outside of the ring to fellow Americans. There was nothing anti-American about Ali. Anti senseless war yes, but not anti-American.

SMH.
