I have a nice entertainment center that has 36" wide space. I figure if I take off the doors I can fit a tv that's 40.5" wide, without the view block of the doors that are never used anyway.

Has anybody else modified their entertainment center for a larger tv?

I modified an Ethan Allen TV center to fit a larger TV a few years back and it worked fine. Once I got a newer big screen, the Ethan Allen got moved into storage and is awaiting a new purpose..

When we went to a larger TV we ended up putting it on top the entertainment center. Thought it seemed too high at first we've now come to realize that it works better at a higher location.
