First off this site really rocks, so much info. Maybe Coaly can help me out here...

Just recently sold my Mama Bear that was in my woodshop, and now I am looking for a Fisher Insert. May sound like a can of worms, but I just want to have a fireplace with a Fisher Insert.

This is one I am looking at which appears to be in great condition. Would this model contain a factory baffle. It appears to be missing a cap on one of the door vents, were these caps only on the later model stoves.

The second pic is of another insert that I am looking at which appear also to be in good condition, possible an earlier stove than the above pic. The nickel plating might need a little more work to polish. Anywho, just curious what both pictures tell you. Both stoves come with surrounds and hardware, no screen included. Would appreciate any comments. Thx, Michael

Welcome to the Forum;
No baffles in Insert, and the bolt cover is found on later caps. Easier to remove the cap so both sides match than find just one.
Stick with one with good plating since that is one of the most difficult and expensive fixes. That screen is common, or better yet, wait to find a glass door model. They should go for a premium, but many times are just as cheap as the common solid door insert.

Two different stoves. Look at the trees really close to the draft caps. First stove looks like GMA doors and second stove looks like Goldilocks doors. Coaly will know actual names of stoves.

The Insert pictured on right is a full size Insert.
Left looks like a Cub, but I'd need measurements to verify. (smaller Honey Bear size)
