Silver Maple?

Hey gang, wondering if this is silver maple?

Dude had some free wood outside of his house...I asked what it was, he said white oak. I just about had heart palpitations. Then, I saw a branch with some leaves that obviously pegged the tree as a maple...wondering if its a silver. If so, it'll burn. As they say, free wood is me wood, but you talk about going from high to low in the span of a minute...

Why drat? I would take it any day . I burn 80% soft maple and love it. It will be ready in one year, easy to spit and puts the heat out. I let mine set for 2 years before burning it. On days when it is 0 out my house will still be around 75-80 and with the stove I have now I get good over night burns with it.

Yeah, the "drat" was mostly because I thought it was oak. Then, I was holding out hope that I'd stumbled across some rare genus of oak tree had leaves that look EXACTLY like those on a silver maple. :)

That said, looking forward to splitting it, letting it season, and burning it!

Yes absolutely, I really like Silver Maple myself, dries fast, ignites easily, burns real clear and "clean", good stuff!
