Hello
The security keypad had been laying around in the shed for a long time so I hooked it up yesterday. Then I found out it was an older Generation 1 model not made anymore but the support girl told me there was no difference in the gen 2 model.
Shop Iris Smart Keypad (Works with Iris) at Lowes.com

So she helped me pair it with the new Gen 2 hub which took 1.5 hours to migrate into the other day!
Anyway the new Gen 2 iPhone app does everything now so the web site to add devices is no longer needed. It does make things easier,

So I had a door sensor and tried to hook it up to the outside shop door but because it swings in and is inside a 2x6 jamb there is no space to put the switch without the door hitting it.

They do make a real slick switch in a door hinge but my local Lowe's was out of the 4 inch hinges and just had the 3.5" hinges! Who uses 3.5" hinges these days?

So I put in the motion sensor and put the new Gen 2 door switch on the window. The old Gen 1 door/window switch stopped working. Just as well because the new switch supports a wider gap up to an inch where the old one was up to half inch. The new Gen 2 has a seperate battery compartment making it easier to change the battery.
The only thing I do not like about this system is all the CR2032 CR2 batteries even though they do last a long time!!!

The good features are that,
I can see on my Iphone:
Time that the window was closed
Time of the last motion in shop.
When the Alarm is triggered, I get an email and phone call! :)
It shows which sensor triggered the Alarm. :)

Anyone else try this?
What do you think?

Hello
The motion sensor works fine and it has a good check to see the last time there was motion in the shop. The only drawback is that motion is not detected until after the workshop front door is opened and 3 steps are taken inside!
Therefore, I got the NYCE micro switch built into the door hinge and installed it. It comes with an Allan wrench and 2 different size set screws that can be adjusted to compensate for the gap between the hinge when the door is closed. :)
After adjusting it, I found it can be set so the status on the iPhone will not bet set to closed until the door latch actually clicks in! That works very well!

This way, I will know if I left the door open by checking on my iPhone

Also the trick here is that this switch comes in a 3.5 inch high hinge and a 4 inch hinge which is the one that fits my doors and was harder to find in stock at Lowe's!

So where the surface mount door/window switch does not fit, this will work fine!
Anyone know of any other way to do this?
