Durability of some liners

was curious to know what you all thought about durability of liners. I know they are rated for high temperatures. I'm imagining a situation where a stove gets overfired for as short time, perhaps a slight cherry glow,as I have seen described here, for 10 to 15 minutes on top of stove. Would this likely hurt liner?

I am going to guess that quite a few of us have had the same thing happen with no long term issues. I would not worry much about it, although bholler and others who are in the biz and on Hearth.com may say otherwise and I would certainly defer to them. I don't think it's like pregnancy where you are pregnant or not. There is no such thing as being a little pregnant. The liner got somewhat hot, my guess 1,600 degrees or so and the liner is good for about 2,100. It has all summer to cool off-lol.

It can it depends on the type of liner, the temp, it reaches, the time it is held there, the number of times it is over heated ect. We have some liners that have been in use for 30 years and have other people who destroy their liner after 4 or 5 years. Generally doing it once or twice will not be an issue but it could potentially cause a problem so be careful
