Free "Undesirable" wood sections in North Shore, Massachusetts

Hey guys!

We took on a little more wood than we had room for, so we are getting rid of all of those pieces that we put aside in order to get to later (because they are so damn hard to chop with an axe, and we don't have a wood-splitter). I made a craigslist add, it's for free. Just thought that I would also put it here in case there is anybody that wants it from my neck-of-the-woods on hearth.com. I will take down the CL add when it's all picked up, so if the link no longer works, than that is why!

And I will add pictures of the project that we are currently working on--that is taking up all of our time, and all of the ROOM around our property!! It was free, and I just couldn't pass it up!

Me too if it is something that you'd like! I would love a hearth-er to get the wood. I know that we gladly picked up that stuff when we first started out. Now that we're pretty hooked up with local tree companies, it's just not worth hubby's back/shoulders. If we had a splitter, then I'd put it right in the mix with the rest of it!

Our biggest reason for not keeping these knots & Vs is because we don't have the room. It's in the way of where we need the new stacks to go (that we never expected to have!). We would prefer to keep the logs that will provide wood that is even and stacks nice and tight together so that we can stack it high and wide. We are on a 6000 sqft lot in a majorly overpopulated city--about 10 miles from Boston (that's actually a lot of land for around here). We are going to be years ahead, so I am not worried about the wood drying--we have had no problems with drying thus far, due to lots of sun and wind. The company that gave us the logs actually told us that he would pick up anything we couldn't handle and thought we were crazy for taking it all. He kept asking, are you sure?? with each load. We are trying to put it anywhere and everywhere that we can, but we will see... Also, we only use about 1.5 cords/winter.

A second reason for getting rid of the "undesirable" sections is due to the cost of renting a splitter. We have incurred no cost for any wood this year, and we do not want to spend even a dollar if we have to. The local company that rents them said it would cost $110/day (22-25 ton). That's how much we bought a dump truck full of logs for last year! To us, that's a lot of money. If husband can get all the logs to length, and we have the space, but he is tired, then I will gladly rent the splitter for him--but not until he cries uncle! A 30 year old firefighter and ex Marine... I'm not expecting it anytime soon. It's like a hobby, and it makes him proud. It makes me proud too!

I'm more than happy to save money, time, and space on only choosing clean logs to split. I know you can't picture my land, and the huge amount of stacks we already have, plus the wood yet to be processed, but this really is the best course. Plus, since we have had 7 CL replies so far to pick it up, it looks like someone will find a lot of value in our throwaways--I know we would have been last year when we had to pay for wood. That makes me happy too

Unfortunately, husband doesn't know if he will be home tonight or picking up overtime, so I cannot respond to anyone until after five when he will know. I feel bad making them wait, but I am sure someone can jump right on it after dinner. I'm still letting a hearth.com member jump to the top of the list, FYI!

Is that because you already have too much? LOL Or no time, and she doesn't want it sitting around??
