Just installed a new convection blower (room fan) on my 7 year old St Croix York insert. It works well but is much noisier than I remember the old one being. I've tried realigning and a few drops of 20w oil...still makes a humming sound. The interesting thing is, immediatly after I hit the OFF button the humming goes away. All fans are still running until stove cools off and shuts down. This of course is normal.
Not sure what happens electrically when the OFF button is pushed but, the humming goes away.
Any thoughts??

That makes no since out all. Did you try laying your hand on it or pushing on it to make sure it not just vibrating? Maybe you received a bad blower but still don't make any since.

Does the auger stop immediately when you hit the off button or does it also continue to run for a bit.

I have st croix lancaster. The auger does not turn anymore after the off button is push just the fans to burn out the fire and cool off stove.

Same with my Afton Bay.
