I bucked this up this morning down at the city recycling area. No leaves to ID. It's heavy as lead, tough to split with an axe, but I'm sure it will burn fine. My guesses are Elm or Green Ash?

unburnt firewood!!

sorry man dont know... looks like pine but i'm not good w/wood .

ummmm...it looks like the locust you scrounged before....

I would say that it's black locust as well. Greenish yellow heartwood, coconut husk-looking bark underlayer, heavy as lead.....gotta be locust! You're gonna' be warm!

Not Black Locust, the bark is thin and kind of flaky and the heartwood is a light tan color. Definately different than the other stuff I scrounged the last few days.

Looks like elm to me too.

Split alot of that this year, Elm.

definatly not locust..Maybe elm, but I ahve no experience with elm

Judgeing by the color and the Ribbons on the split piece I think elm, I dont think the bark looks right to be a Locust tree.

FREE! the best kind Just like beer, the best kinds are free and cold

Ok, thanks guys. I had a feeling it was Elm. This will be good for spring and fall burning. Now I have enough firewood up to the 2009-2010 season.
