I built it from some scrap i had around the barn. I cant take credit for the idea, I got it from this youtube video:
 
Where did you get that Axe head? Its not a common type.
 
Arghh! I'm swimming in kindling. Cart and wheelbarrow full. I had to fill two large boxes and a bin to empty the cart. Need my wheelbarrow back, but the sticks in there are green.

Where did you get that Axe head? Its not a common type.
its actually just a splitting wedge. i narrowed the edge and then took a grinder and ground off the hardened steel down to "soft" steel where i was going to make the weld. then i just welded a peice of plate to the wedge and then i piece of tube stock to the plate.
 
That's a cool fire pit. Do you mind me asking where you found that?

It is the end of a 500gal propane tank. A girl two towns up from us cuts them into what ever design you want with a plasma cutter. I got ours cut to ocean waves and at a big discount.

I think she gets From $900.00 to $1200.00 for them depending on the work.

That's pretty cool, but way out of my price range for an outdoor fire pit.
