how much wood

I think a lot of it has to depend on how long you want the stove to run and how cold it is outside.. At night I try to fill my stove around 11 or so. That means I usually only put a piece or two in about 8 so I can have just coals when I want to load it up. Colder days obviously get more wood than warmer day. I think after a while you will find what works for you .

If its cold out I'll keep it better than half full so the operating temperature is on the hotter side of things. Warm nights or sunny days I'll toss in a split or two at a time to keep it running and warm. Overnight I load it right to the top and bank it down.

I've been following that video and do full loads each time, burn hot, throttle back, and repeat.

I keep her loaded at night but during the day just a few at a time unless its real cold out.

It will also depend on the type of stove you are using.
